Sensory Test is a scientific discipline through which a product’s attributes are perceived and analyzed through the 5 senses .It has been used in a number of disciplines including the hi- tech food and cosmetics industeries. With new Crizal A2 Essilor is the 1st company in the ophthalmic industry to use Sensory Test to make a connection between scientific data and eyeglass wearers’ perceptions of New Crizal A2 lenses.
Sensory analysis is a scientific discipline that applies principles of experimental design and statistical analysis.
Sensory analysis assess the sensory qualities of a product in terms of human senses : sight, touch, hearing, taste and smell.
Sensory Analysis Objectives
To optimize products at the conception stage
To understand the influence of certain properties of a product on the overall perception expressed by consumers
To prove clearly and quantifiably the superiority of new generations of products
Observation Methodologies
To measure sensations, 3 observation situations :
The visual perception through spectacles The appearance of the lenses like an object that we manipulate and watch The appearance of the lenses when the wearer of spectacles is seen by an observer (= judge)
